R2B2 is a happy little camper for the next month. Co-Worker #1, the pain in the behind, is off studying for the LSAT but she may come in from time to time. I don't care she is GONE for a month. I'm doing a happy dance. Now if I could just get #2 to want to go on a vacation. Priceless. Temporary calm restored in R2B2 work life.
04/28/09 09:56 PM
R2B2 is a semi happy camper. Why?!?! Because #2 through a hissy fit this morning and got yelled at by the head of HR. Little background.
On Friday it was hot in the office and he kept turning off the office light and kept saying "I want it off" so I kept turning it back on. So yesterday the building were in my office fixing the ac. It required them moving boxes that were on the ac wall unit. When they were done, I started putting the boxes back where they were #2 screeches at me "those boxes are not going up there" I just looked at him and said nothing because I knew if I did it would be very very bad. So he screeches "did you hear me" so I replied. I'm not deaf. So he had a fit about the boxes.
When I went out of the office for a meeting he stacks them all on top of each other all the way to the ceiling. I didn't say anything but HR did see and said move them its a fire hazard I said #2 did it and he's having a fit so I'll take care of it tomorrow. He usually doesn't come in until 10:30 so I thought I'd have time in the morning. Wrong. #2 was there. The lights were off and not only has he dismantled the pile he has also thrown the boxes on the floor even breaking one. That PI$$ED Me OFF. Then I notice that he's touched my personal stuff that was behind my desk. I went off like a roman firecracker.
Who do you think you are. The last time i checked you were a temp and unless I missed the memo making you a partner who do you think you are messing with my work and personal stuff and I'm sick and tired of turning the light on. The light stays on period. I'm not sitting in this office with you in the dark. Guess what the idiot responds. "Now you are calling me a rapist" WHAT are you crazy. I'm not sitting in my office in the dark with anyone and most certainly not with some one I don't trust.
That's when I realized that talking to him like he was an adult (he's 45+) was a waste of time. So I go to HR because this situation is ridiculous. So HR says she would talk to him. HR didn't just talk to him she took a strip off of him. (I wish I was a fly on the wall) to the point she was clearly heard through her closed office door. Told him this was the last straw. She was tired of him interfering and butting in to things that are none of his business. (He likes to listen in to conversations and contribute. No matter who it is) He is a temp she's permanent and its her office, he's just sitting there. Don't interfere with her work. I already told you not to turn off the light. how many times do i have to repeat myself. HR said a lot more but that's all I was told.
Then 20 min later he is sitting in another office. Then the icing on the cake is that #2 complained to several people in the office not about the situation but about HR yelling at him. Bad Bad idea is messing with HR. HR went through the roof. So instead of him going into the empty office we have HR is moving him out into an empty secretary spot where its very noisy, people walking by and talking and using the printer next to that spot. He likes quiet and told me to tell him before I hit print (you know that didn't happen).
Ok I know you're saying are you kidding me. No I wish I was. This morning I so did not want to go to work that I was at the bus stop in plenty of time for my 7:46 bus and I let it go and the next 4 and finally got on the 8:20 bus. I feel like I'm back in Jr. high where its all about who likes who. Instead of at work where its about the work. So at least for the rest of the week (cross your fingers for me) I should have peace.
I'm exhausted and my head is 8 out of 10 on the richter scale.
Thanks for listening.

I'm so glad that you got #2 out of your hair. He was really pushing buttons left, right and center. I'm glad that HR had had enough of this clown. You'd think with the economy, he'd be doing his best to be downright lovable.
04/29/09 10:04 AM
Toasty: Thanks for the kind words. I should be enjoying the day but the pessimist in me says that this is just a very small calm before the hurricane. Besides he's given me enough dirty looks this morning to fry an egg. I just want this week over already. Make some room in the sand because I'm ready to stick it in and not come out until September.
04/29/09 12:44 PM
Startsmart: Glad I was able to make you laugh. I didn't wag a finger. He did at me. Totally not acceptable.
Kathy 74, Smokey, dakota: #2 is so mad at me he is shooting daggers as he walks by. Which is funny since he never left his seat while in here. Now he's in HR's crosshairs. Priceless. KCW was a serious thought but a) wouldn't be able to talk to you Ladies and b) Harry would be lonely.
Red_Wagon: Two adults having a conversation as to can we turn off the light. I'm all for it. I'm not for being told what to do by someone who at 45+yrs old hasn't grown up and literally stomps his feet like a 2 yr old. No kidding.
04/29/09 04:00 PM
#2 is not having a good day (poor baby ) because he has asked the person he's sitting next to, "is it always this noisy" Nope, it gets worse when all the partners are in.
05/06/09 10:19 PM
Toasty: The Terror is stopping around and complaining that its too noisy and that he needs quiet to work. Today, HR told him, actually yelled, that its either that seat or the seat in his house. That's his only choice and if he came back in here again, she would make the decision for him. I know its wrong but that was the highlight of my day.

R2B2, It would make my day, too! Hurray for HR! What a whiner! Did you say this charmer is in his early forties? BTW, hope that freezing office was solved with the heating pad. How did that happen, the office being cold, I mean?
05/06/09 11:06 PM
Toasty: I say he's in his early 40s but my friend thinks its mid to late. Not sure. He is gray but he does a really bad die job so I can't tell. Office is cold because when we moved into this building they reworked the ventilation system. There is something wrong with the system so when the building itself turns on a little air it blows a lot of very cold air. To correct the problem means the firm has to pay and they don't want to do it. So its going to be an uncomfortable summer. Heating pad works very well.
05/07/09 11:20 AM
Dakota: I completely agree but if you can believe it we also have a room full of 8 contract attorneys who are just like the Terror. HR had to block the internet to them because they were spending more time on it than doing the document review. They got mad and went to a partner complaining about HR turning it off. We some how have the unique ability to hire more and more Terrors. I could go with their antics but you would be scratching your head wondering why they are employed. I sum it up in one word. Entitlement.

Morning Ladies, This is a fly by posting. But guess what?!?!?!?! I got a new officemate. Actually its my officemate from last summer. And I ADORE her. YEAH ME!!!!!!!
Toodles.
05/14/09 09:25 PM
Can I say that I had a really nice day at work today. Didn't realize just how stressed I've been just going in there. Not entirely stress free but a lot better than yesterday. SK will be here for 1 yr. before she goes to grad school. I'm not expecting total bliss but I know that it will be so nice to share a office with a person where we can talk out our differences. Must say it brings a smile to my face when the Terror goes stomping by when he sees SK and I laughing our heads off. Believe me we do a lot of laughing.
06/04/09 10:47 AM
Toasty: Terror Temp has lost his desk and is now sitting with all the temps. He is not happy what so ever. I couldn't hold back the grin when I saw him sitting there.
06/05/09 11:12 AM
Cheelyk, Calsfan, Toasty: Since Terror Temp was moved into the room with all the temps he hasn't come back. No one knows where he is. Supposedly he hasn't returned calls either.
06/08/09 01:41 PM
Terror Temp: He's back today. Just showed up. He lost his seat in the temp room so he's in the corner and pouting up a storm. I love it.
06/08/09 02:28 PM
Smokey, Chelleyk: Yup he's back and pouting. HR didn't even realize he was back. He just walked after being a no show. That's how this crazy off works. Never seen an episode of The Office but I'm told we make that look like a walk in the park. Any other office and TT would have been shown the door.
06/09/09 10:01 AM
Terror Temp: Well my officemate is on vacation this week so her desk is empty. She only told those who needed to know so a lot of people thought she was out sick. Terror went to HR and asked or strongly suggested that he come back in here (you read correctly) with me because it is a "quieter environment" until S comes back. HR said No. That's the news that greeted me this morning as I walked in. I wish I was making this stuff up because then I could get a writing gig for my favorite shows.
06/11/09 03:57 PM
Terror Temp was kicked out of the temp room on Tuesday. They went to the partner and said it was either all of them (10) or him. Terror hasn't been back since. . Unfortunately he's like a weed. He'll be back.
06/15/09 03:28 PM
Guess who showed up for work today?!?!?!?!!? Give up. Terror Temp. Priceless. Since every one is in the office today, he had to sit in the temp room and was told to behave. Yup. He was told to behave. Couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.
SingleMom - Ky - 06/15/09 03:42 PM
R2B2 - That cracks me up about Terror but what exactly does "behave" entail? I'll bet he was
06/15/09 03:52 PM
Smokey: Probably told to keep his mouth shut and his opinions to himself. He believes he knows more than anyone else and that he should comment on anything said even if you're not talking to him. Sorry but I don't think he was but rather . He probably thought how dare they say such a thing to me. When he was sitting with me his mother called him to say that Crate and Barrel (I think) was having a 40% off house ware sale. I said thanks for the info but not necessary. He jokingly said we all need new pots and pans. (I didn't think it was funny) So I replied not me. He was very insistent and said yes we all do. I said no. I don't cook. So I don't need new pots and pans. He got upset and told me, yes told me, that "everyone cooks." Yup. The arrogant PITA. So he thought he would score points with two of my friends who came into the office about 5 min later. He repeats the story and they look at him and said She doesn't need new pots, she doesn't cook. That shut him up. But the look on his face was priceless. .
06/15/09 05:47 PM
We haven't been able to figure exactly out how he's connected to the most disliked partner here. Not related but not sure of the connection.
startsmart - 06/15/09 10:30 PM
red2black- I think it's time to terrorize the temp. Here's the plan: start a rumor that you're getting married and NO ONE has the time to throw you an engagement party. Then subtly mention that the last few temps the firm hired full time and gave private offices to were super involved in office social events. Sigh, look around and smile at him all while describing your 38-piece cookware set from Macy's. If you're especially devious have one of your friends tell him your favorite colors are green and orange, you want to walk down the aisle to Barney single "I love you" and, best of all, your fiancee may or may not be related to the partner in charge of hiring.
07/01/09 10:09 PM
Chelleyk, Toasty, Startsmart: Terror Temp is still here but he is eating humble pie. The project for the larger group of temps ended, YEAH, but Terror's didn't. So he is sitting by himself in a workroom that people use all day long. No privacy and very noisy. Karma is so beautiful to see in action.
07/08/09 10:58 AM
Terror Temp: He is back. Kinda on a part-time schedule. Anyway, I was off on Monday and he tried to have several conversations with my office mate. Every time she got up from her desk he was there. S tried to not engage in conversation with short one word responses. Until finally at lunch time she comes back to the office to eat at her desk and he sees her and says oh we can have lunch together. S says No and slams the door in his face. S is still mad today, three days later. Terror does not take no for an answer.
07/23/09 11:50 AM
Terror Temp got his nose bent out of shape because they are doing construction on the floor above and the noise is right above his head. So he marches into HR to say he can't work under these conditions. HR looks up and says then go home. He says fine. Then she says if you do don't come back. It was a wonderful site to see his little face go beat red. He's back in his seat without saying a word. I was there handing in my time sheets and stayed to watch the show. Didn't even pretend not to be listening..
19 August 2009
Toasty: Thank you. I'll try really hard to live up to the NK partners today. BTW: Terror Temp has disappeared and no one knows when or if he'll be back. One can only hope.
