There I was, just scanning some of the blogs kept by other Ladies on the NS/CS thread and I ran into this:

16 RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME
Rules: Once you’ve been tagged (if you are reading this post, consider yourself tagged), you are supposed to write 16 random things, facts, habits, or goals about yourself.
So here goes:
16 RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME
- 1: My favorite flower is the Lilac. I love everything about it, the shape, colors, fragrance, shiny heart shaped leaves .... everything. I can still close my eyes and see myself at about 5 or 6, standing in the middle of this HUGE clump of lilacs that grew in the backyard. I can feel the soft breeze and am just standing there inhaling deeply, getting almost drunk on the rich scent of sun warmed blossoms. It is so bad I have been known to drive circuitous routes to and from work in the Spring to identify "accessible" stands of plants where a person "might" go after sundown with a pair of shears to "maybe" liberate a few sprigs for her home.
- 2: My favorite number is 6. Not sure why, or when, I came to know this. It just IS.
- 3: I have never broken a bone. Yep, hard to believe especially considering that I can be rather clumsy or a bit too distracted to watch where my feet are going sometimes. But at the age of 45 I can say that I never had a broken bone.
- 4: As a tie-in to the item above, I sometimes jokingly tell people that I am a "Factory Original" model. By that I mean that I have ALL the parts I came with (aka was born with). I still have my tonsils, adenoids, appendix and wisdom teeth. After all, if they ain't broken there ain't no reason to "fix" 'em.
- 5: I have very eclectic taste in music. Going through my albums, tapes and CDs you would find Gospel, Classical, Manilow, Country, Cajun, Big Band/Swing, Gershwin, Manhattan Transfer, Quebecois dance music, Contemporary Christian, Elizabethan airs, Celtic music and soundtracks to movies or Broadway shows.
- 6: I have several things I tend to collect almost obsessively. (Note: though as I get more knowledgeable about the form artistic merit I am getting more selective in my choices) They are: Delft hand painted pottery
Mosaic and micro-mosaic Italian jewelry from the early 20th century
Bone china brooches and earrings most made in England during the 1950's-1970's. - 7: I love curling up with a good trashy romance novel. Pure escapism, and nothing wrong with THAT!
- 8: I am a compilation of the following cultures and ethnicities: Finnish (1/4), Cherokee (1/8), Huron, German, Dutch, Scottish, Irish, Welsh and French Canadian. A true American.
- 9: I took Violin lessons for 7 years and Piano lessons for 11 years. Unfortunately I have not played the former for more than a decade. But I am re-learning the latter now that I have a piano again.
- 10: I am a life-long Republican, well - except for that time I worked the John Anderson [Independent] campaign in high school. Though that was more to spend time with a certain student. I had a massive crush and he barely ever knew I existed.
- 11: I used to Contra-Dance at least twice a week when I lived in Seattle. Though right now I am not sure why I stopped or why I never got back into it once I moved back East. Perhaps something to think about doing again.
- 12: I like to Role Play. By that I mean - assuming another name and persona to "live" a different kind of life. My primary "Home" is Scagnar where I am Fallon, a Physician married to an off-world version of a cowboy. I also have a persona I am developing for the SCA - something else I need to decide if I am going to make a commitment to this year. While the name is the same, this second Fallon lives in the Disputed Lands of Britain around 1070 A.D.
- 13: I am much more reserved, shyer and introverted than most people know or see. A lot of my outgoing mannerisms are learned behavior to mask, and protect, my more vulnerable true self.
- 14: My father is the oldest of TWELVE children. I have, as best I can remember, 26 first cousins and about 12 second cousins JUST from my dad's siblings. We are into the hundreds when you factor in
Grand-dad's nine siblings and Grand-ma's ten. OY VAY !!! - 15: While I will never really consider myself a "dog" person and will most likely always share my home with cats. There is a part of me that would like to have another dog. A REAL dog - aka a BIG dog. An English Mastiff, Newfoundland or St. Bernard kind of dog.
- 16: On my list of places to see, travel to, or re-visit are: Scotland (especially the Highlands), Ireland, Finland, Alaska, Australia and Italy
