CeCe
She was a mere scrap of a cat -
a tiny neurotic calico named CeCe.
She was quiet, withdrawn -
not more than six pounds.
But she made her place in my heart.
Each morning she waited for her token spoon
of milk from my bowl.
To my granddaughter she was the ultimate kitty,
deigning to be carted from place to place
by a two-year-old crooning “CeCe”.
and tickling her ears.
Like all cats, she had her favorite spots to nap.
