On May 19th Barack Obama made a speech at the State Department that highlighted once again for me why he is not qualified for the office he holds.
When discussing world affairs he usually manages to make me cringe with the weight of what he seems to NOT know about diplomacy. Not only were his comments about what Israel should do insulting and arrogant - but to say them on the eve of Netanyahu's visit and then run off to Europe was a real cheap maneuver. What Yahoo in his administration came up with, or endorsed, the idea that he should pontificate on what one of our few allies in the region must do to satisfy our interests - then fly off to have his picture taken hob nobbing with the leaders of Ireland and the UK?
How does it look that next to pictures of him in formal attire at a State Dinner at Buckingham Palace are images of devastation in Missouri and the Israeli Prime Minister addressing Congress?
I understand that State visits take months or years to prepare and that canceling is not always an option. Fine, I will concede that perhaps he could not cancel because of natural disaster. But insulting the Israeli government and arrogantly telling them what to do just before a greet and run .... THAT was avoidable and lacked maturity AND diplomacy.
