I am so ready to go to bed. I didn't get much sleep last night. Onyx decided to "spoon" against my back, which is fine until she starts to chase mice in her dreams, her little claws are sharp. That isn't as annoying as when I am just drifting off and she decides it is time to clean between her toes. She is very vigorous about biting out anything that shouldn't be there, and by the time she is done I'm awake. She has been very clingy the past two weeks, always in my lap or on my shoulder. I expected it two months ago when she became an only "child".

Onyx needs about a 6-7 inch step stool to get onto the bed without ripping the sheets with her claws. I have decided to use some of the old books, clean them up and glue them together into a pile, clean them up and get a spray can of clear finish to keep the dust down and make a step stool for her. A pile of books next to my bed will never look out of place, and maybe I can protect my sheets.

Oh ick, ick--Onyx just caught a bird and is killing it slowly while she plays with it on the deck. I cant stand dead birds, and I'm not to fond of them alive--except from a GREAT distance like in the trees. I am not looking forward to cleaning it from the deck. actually I am surprised she was able to get one so big. I tend to under estimate her abilities. I do know she will NOT be sleeping in my bed tonight! What a strange thing to weird me out. i can deal with spiders, bugs, lizards, snakes and rodents--but birds are ICKY.

I need to go out and retrieve Onyx from her hidden nest among my giant chrome yellow iris flowers. She does make a striking picture, but she doesn't quite get it that the birds sitting above her on the cable wires can still see her.

SES_, Oh my! You write in paintings! I can just see black velvet Onyx beside the intense chrome yellow flowers, the blue sky and far above, a thin black line of cable and the stark outline of crows. I could paint that.

Sharing-- If you are going to paint Onyx's hidey-hole, paint iridescent black starlings instead of crows on the cable line. They seem to just sparkle in the sunshine.
