Once again Honey has covered the bases. Honey, when are you going to straighten out the national mess?

Hooo boy SES - wouldn't I love the chance. However I would only take it on with some conditions:
1) Limited / No Press. I have always said that we probably would have lost the Revolutionary War and WWII if the current press jackals were around. Just because the public may have the right to know - does not mean that they have the right to know RIGHT NOW. If you are on my team and I find out you "leaked" anything you will go to jail for a year and pay a fine of $10k. No trial, no passing Go, no collecting $200.
2) We have a National Anthem, standard currency, National seat belt law and one National/Federal government. We will have a National and Official Language. Do you realize we are the only developed nation on earth to not have this? And we all know what it is - why are we so afraid to just say so? I will not make anyone give up speaking what they wish at home or at cultural gatherings, you do not have to foresake your culture or heritage. But neither do I think ... well.....this is a soapbox for another day.
3) Nothing will be sacred. I don't CARE how many years you have been "doing it this way" and I don't want to hear "But it has been this way for EVER".... WRONG Only a few things have remained constant that long - the law of gravity, the earth revolves around the sun, and the sun rising in the East and setting in the West. Everything else is up for grabs.
4) The only exception to #3 is this - we will care for our elderly with grace, compassion and more than adequate time and attention.
5) Free Reign. I don't really care that your family came over on the Mayflower - so what? Mine did also - Thomas Varney aged 11, cabin boy on one of the small fleet that followed. AND I am Cherokee and Huron, so technically I WAS here first.
6) ALL decisions will be based on facts and figures. Not "How will this reflect in my approval numbers?"
7) No lobbyists. For one month there will be NO contact or pressure applied to anyone from any lobbying group. Not even the Orphan Blind Kitten Lobby.
8) All dedcisions will be final - no refunds, no returns. Don't like it? There's the door. That means if I decide that teachers starting salaries should be $50k and they are eligible for bonuses based on student improvement, community involvement and innovation - then I don't want any crying from any union.
9) And speaking of education - If you decide to not finish High School. And by finish I mean not just pass through but actually earn your diploma and be able to read, write, speak without using "F" every other word, have a working knowledge of basic history, can do simple math, and have the ability to learn a job and support yourself. Well, if you choose to leave early there will be three options: Join the military, finish at a trade school (not all people learn from books) or do National Service for five years. That means we can use your hands to do anything needed - build a damn, pick up trash, deliver relief supplies to Africa, build roads. Five years - not from Jan 1 2000 - December 31, 2005.... Oh no ...... I mean 1,835 DAYS of labor and work. With penalties if you do not complete your obligations (insert ominous music here)
10) Or if you think it would be better to stay home, have babies and live off welfare and social services - think again. Those programs will be re-worked to help those in need for the short term (such as being laid off and needing time to re-train) or the chronically ill or under-employed (such as the severly disabled or those with serious mental handicaps). But if you are an 18 year old girl who lets herself get knocked up because her boyfriend convinced her that using a condom means she doesn't love him (pardon me while I go barf) then no - you don't get to stay home and have more kids on the taxpayers dime.
11) I actually believe that Israel has the right approach. Mandatory tour of military service for every citizen.
*laughing* Who knew that a simple question on the WIRR NS/CS Board would bring out such strong feelings and concrete plans from this die-hard Republican?
