Long, totally funtastic weekend!! I had three friends gather at my house this weekend for
a Scrabble Marathon/ sleepover. We visited and caught up with each other until the other
local lady had to go to Mass. After she returned we had pizza delivered and got down to
the serious business of Scrabble. I won one game with the word "piques" in the
third to last round. We played into the wee hours (although not as late as we played
fifteen years ago) slept for a few hours and were at it again at 6 am. I will admit I
dipped into my last little bit of grocery money and spent $1.99 on some cinnamon raisin
bread. But I was able to make some Valentine sugar cookies and a Black Forest Cake and
some delicious fresh popcorn for nibbles. This morning I fixed a pan of Dirty Eggs to go
with the cinnamon raisin toast and some fresh oranges one of the others brought with her.
Then we spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon playing more Scrabble and
nibbling on all of the goodies until everyone had to leave.
Shortly before they left, I came in to the computer to print off some information to send
with them about my favorite light bulbs. In the, maybe, fifteen minutes I was on the
computer these guests whisked all of the dishes into the dishwasher, swept the floor,
gathered the trash to go out and since the trash bag was not completely full.............
CLEANED BOTH LITTER BOXES !!!!! Now these are house guests who can visit me anytime.
Now, both cats are curled on the bed asleep, recovering. Onyx recovering from all of the
extra petting and snuggling and Calleigh from nine hours of hiding in the basement before
deciding these people might be OK and getting in there for her share of petting and
cuddle time. I didn't know it was so tiring to be on the receiving end of so much
attention and affection. It must be, since they haven't moved an inch from the bed in the
past three hours.
I, on the other hand, am forcing myself to stay awake now so I will sleep tonight. I
don't deal well with messed up sleep cycles.
